Message from the CEO

In all discussions regarding the health of the population, the issue of social determinants has become front and centre. The paper explores the reasons for engagement and disengagement of rural nurses in Australia and beyond through a review of the literature. The literature indicates that the bedrock of our rural health services, nursing, had been suffering from the gradual withdrawal of structural supports for over 20 years.
