Message from the CEO
In recent weeks, the ‘SA Parliamentary inquiry into regional health services’ presented its findings. Much of the tenor of the report encourages participation, partnership and inclusion. The PHN works with many providers and stakeholders, all of whom are well intentioned in the desire to improve the health of our people in country SA, despite the increasing demand on services and the pressures of change both social and fiscal, the CSAPHN commends the work of all participants in the inquiry.

The following is a heavily précised copy of the Executive Summary from that report.

Initial observations
The Inquiry was guided by principles that underpin the state’s universal healthcare system, and which provide that all South Australians shall have equitable access to appropriate healthcare. The governance framework of such a system should ensure that some people are not left behind merely because of where they live relative to a city or regional centre.
