Message from the CEO

Our activity to commission the Integrated Primary Health Care program into wide areas of country SA has reached the point where preferred providers have been selected and notified to progress their implementation by 1 July this year.

The program is designed to extend and update the old Rural Primary Health Service program provided by the Commonwealth nearly 15 years ago.

The program provides funding for additional allied health and other primary health care services to local communities of fewer than 5000 persons, with the requirement that the services are provided in the community, rather than to the community and include the requirement for community accountability for same.

The Nurse and Medical Practice Assistant (MPA) Manual

There have been major advances in practice nursing in recent years, and a rapid expansion in the role of the practice nurse. Practice Nurses play a key role in supporting and coordinating a patient’s entire health care journey, rather than focusing on just a specific disease or condition. This role is underpinned by the principles of delivering coordinated and patient-centred care, creating partnerships across different health providers and sectors, improving patient outcomes and enabling improvements across the system.

The Nurse and Medical Practice Assistant (MPA) Manual is a guide to all aspects of clinical practice.  If you would like access to the manual, please contact the Practice Support Team via email practice.support@countrysaphn.com.au.

Talunga Clinic - Psychologist

Talunga Clinic is looking for a psychologist interested in renting a room at either our Mt Pleasant or Birdwood branch. The rent fee is nominal and includes our administration staff making patient appointments, confirming and billing them. We are looking for someone who will bulk bill, -days and rooms are flexible at the stage.

The need for services would ensure at least one day per fortnight and probably double that towards the end of the year when our current psychologist retires. The current psychologist sees 9 patients a day once a fortnight but her bookings are already for over 3 months ahead so there is plenty of scope to see more patients and in a shorter waiting time.

For expressions of interest please contact Carol (Monday to Thursday) on 8568 0080 or email cpoland@talungaclinic.com.au.
